A  private college preparatory school for grades Pre-K -12, the emphasis is placed upon excellence in education. The school is fully-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Independent Private School Association, and the Council for International and Trans-regional Accreditation. Students are equipped with the latest innovations in technology in each classroom.  The curriculum integrates technology, with all students in grades 7-12 required to have laptops for their classes.

Cardinal Mooney High School, a coed Catholic  high school, is staffed by religious sisters and laypersons who share a Christian vision. This has it's source in the Gospels and finds expression in the North American Bishops' pastoral letter, 'To Teach As Jesus Did,' serves as the basis for the school philosophy. The school serves over 200 children and is committed to the Montessori education. Founded in 1976, the Center is affiliated with the American Montessori Society. Every classroom is specially equipped with didactic Montessori materials. These manipulative materials make it possible for children to learn by doing rather than by being told. The materials are age appropriate and are intended to be presented to children in order to enhance their learning and awareness, first of simple concepts, and later of complicated academic ideas. In addition to these very beautiful materials, each classroom is under the direction of a certified Montessori teacher who knows the function of these materials, understands how children learn, is adept at observing and interpreting children and their work, and is prepared to meet the educational needs of each child on an individual basis.

Lower Campus is on Siesta Key, Upper Campus is at Lakewood Ranch. Average student-teacher ratio is 10 - 1. In dramatic contrast to many area schools, ODA offers the individualized attention that is only feasible in an environment with limited class size. Teachers know each student as a distinct individual with specific learning styles, needs, and abilities. This familiarity with the individual allows teachers' to focus on optimizing the individual student's potential.

ODA's academic environment offers the opportunity for a high level of educational achievement. Academic programs emphasize a relevant process that uses the positive approach of challenging and stretching students. ODA students develop the critical thinking skills necessary for analyzing and processing information, so it can be used intelligently. Established in 1924, The Out-of-Door Academy college-preparatory school is the second oldest private school in Florida. Although ODA has evolved continually during its more than 75 years, two remarkable women, founders Fanneal Harrison and Catherine Gavin, had a profound effect on the school's character, extending even to the present day. Their uniquely progressive mission was to nourish the minds, bodies, and spirits of children.

Sarasota's Siesta Key provided the ideal location to promote the total well being of children. With its miles of uninhabited beaches, enchanting wooded acres, and the clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico, it was seen as a pristine paradise well suited to molding all aspects of a child's development.

In 1977, the school was purchased by 120 committed ODA families and transformed into a nonprofit organization. This marked the beginning of a new era in the school's history, as it officially became known as "The Out-of-Door Academy."

In 1996, the school achieved the ambitious goal of opening a separate, state-of-the-art Upper School campus serving grades 9-12 at Lakewood Ranch on University Parkway. In 2000, the 7th and 8th grades were moved from the original Siesta Key campus to the Lakewood Ranch facility.

Today, ODA serves more than 600 students, pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade on its two campuses. With a more than 75 year history, ODA remains dedicated to its longstanding commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and the development of self-confident, responsible young people.

Full-time 2nd-12th public school for intellectually gifted students 

Pine View School is a Sarasota County public school for the intellectually gifted student, grades 2-12, located on 74 acres in the middle of Sarasota County. The campus plan emulates the Thomas Jefferson design at the University of Virginia, with departmental buildings surrounding a central quadrangle. The campus includes a freestanding media center, with a collection of over 22,000 items, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, student center and central auditorium.

has offered a moral-based education with high academic standards in Manatee County since 1954. It is the only Catholic school in Manatee County and serves eight parishes. Student standardized test scores are consistently in the top tenth percentile, topping Florida and national averages. All teachers are certified or certification eligible. Sarasota Christian School was established by a group of Mennonite parents in 1958 who were concerned about educating their children in a Christian atmosphere. The school serves this need regardless of denomination, race, color or national origin. The enrollment of the accredited kindergarten through 12th-grade school has grown steadily with approximately 550 students  today. SCS has easy access off I-75 and is located on a beautiful twenty-six acre campus, complete with baseball, soccer and softball fields.

SCS has just completed phase I of its building campaign. A new middle school two-story, twelve-classroom, plus multi-purpose room and a computer lab was opened this year. New roadways on campus and an additional entrance off Palmer Road was also completed. The second phase of the SCS building campaign will be the addition of a two-story elementary building for students.

The mission of Sarasota Christian School has been to honor God by providing academic excellence to its students, while developing their Christian faith in partnership with the home, the church and the community. Sarasota Christian School is a private, Christian school serving kindergarten through 12th grade.
